Getting care
Plain answers to what veterans and families ask us most. Hover a question (or tap on mobile) to read the answer.
Can I receive care?
Eligibility for DVA Community Nursing depends on your Veteran Card and an assessed clinical need. In most cases a referral from your GP or treating doctor starts the process.
If you hold a White Card, we confirm your coverage with DVA before care starts, as White Card support applies to accepted conditions.
Will I pay?
For eligible clients, DVA-covered Community Nursing services have no out-of-pocket cost. When your care is clinically required and approved under DVA, you are not charged for the nursing we provide.
We will always be upfront with you about what is covered before care begins.
How do I start?
Call our nursing team or request a callback, and we'll talk you through the next steps. A referral (including the DVA D9389 Community Nursing referral form) from your GP or hospital helps us begin.
What happens at the first visit?
A nurse visits you at home, listens to your needs, reviews your referral, and works with you on a care plan. We explain everything clearly and answer your questions, so you feel comfortable and in control.
Still have a question?
Call or message our nursing team. We're happy to talk it through, even if you're not sure you're eligible.
